QUB Student Competing in Space Race

A Queen’s University student is hoping to achieve his ambition of travelling to Space and is calling on the students of Queen’s University to help make his dream a reality.

Karl Satchwell, an Engineering Masters student from Roscommon, has entered a competition organised by Lynx Apollo. The competition is open to the members of the public who want to become an astronaut, with the overall winner travelling to Space.

The top 200 candidates will qualify for the Lynx Space Academy challenge weekend, to be held this summer, where they will face physical and mental NASA style tests. The four strongest candidates will then be flown to Orlando, Florida to experience what it is really like to become an astronaut in the final series of the challenges with just one lucky winner securing a place to go to Space in 2014.

Karl is currently in the top 200 at position 154 and he needs the support of the students at Queen’s University in voting for him to reach the next stage and remain in the top 200 to qualify.
